This morning, management arrived early.
Too early.
There was purpose in their footsteps.
Clipboards were involved.
Whenever humans carry clipboards near livestock, chaos follows.
The farmer approached slowly and said the words:
“We should start preparing.”
Preparing.
As if I have not spent my entire life preparing to be visually remarkable.
Still… I allowed the process to begin.
The Grooming Escalation
The brush returned.
But not the casual brush.
Not the maintenance brush.
The serious brush.
The one brought out for “appearances.”
I stood still as they worked through my coat with alarming concentration.
The calves watched from nearby like they were witnessing surgery.
The goat whispered, “Wow. They’re detailing you.”
Detailing?
I am not a carriage.
I am an experience.
The farmer stepped back halfway through and said, “He’s going to turn heads.”
Obviously.
The Walking Practice
Apparently, fair cows are expected to “walk properly.”
Excuse me?
I have walked flawlessly across mud, snow, wind, emotional adversity, and goat sabotage.
But fine.
We practiced.
Slow steps.
Controlled turns.
Balanced posture.
I must admit… there is an art to it.
The Rival Situation
The Florida Highland reappeared today.
Leaning casually against the fence like he was entering a western film.
He looked me over carefully.
“You ready?” he asked.
I adjusted my stance slightly.
“I was born ready,” I replied.
He nodded once.
Respect.
Then he said something deeply concerning.
“Fair lighting is brutal.”
Brutal?
I spent the next twenty minutes mentally preparing for overhead illumination.
The Pressure Builds
Visitors already seem more excited.
One woman pointed at me and said, “That’s the fair cow.”
The fair cow.
Interesting title.
Strong branding.
The calf asked if I was nervous.
I looked out across the pasture dramatically before answering.
“No,” I said.
“I am entering my event era.”
He did not fully understand.
But someday he will.
Official Statement:
“I do not chase greatness. I arrive as it.”
Final Thoughts from a Cow Preparing for Public Judgment
Tomorrow, training continues.
The spotlight grows closer.
The pressure increases.
But pressure creates diamonds.
And I already sparkle naturally.
Until tomorrow.
Respect. The. Hair.
